About This Piece

• The pair are built alike: charred tops on solid legs, joined with half laps cut where the pieces cross.
• The eucalyptus is charred by shou sugi ban, a Japanese method of burning that lifts the grain and hardens the wood.
• The two give separate surfaces apart, and nest into one charred sculptural group together.
