About This Piece

• Each piece is cut from one eucalyptus stump and worked back only as far as the form needs.
• The eucalyptus is charred by shou sugi ban, a Japanese method of burning that lifts the grain and hardens the wood.
• The cracks that open as it dries are the piece rather than a fault in it, and more come with time.
• The piece works as a stool to sit on or as a side table, and takes both hands to move.
